LM73606: Negative output configuration

Part Number: LM73606

Hello,

I'm including in my design the LM73606 to generate negative voltage (-4V) rail from positive input (+5V), as related in app note SNVA856B. But i have some open points maybe someone can clarify.

I am not sure how next pins should be connected:

  1. EN pin, to use as UVLO. Not clear how to use the op amp described in application note.
  2. SS/TRK pin.Should the capacitor referenced between the pin and negative output?
  3. RT pin, to fix the frequency with an external resistor.
  4. SYNC/MODE to use in auto mod. Should be connected to negative voltage output?
  5. BIAS. I suppose not possible to use in this configuration, but please confirm.

Kind regards and thanks in advance for your support.

Raúl

  • Hi Raúl,

    1.  You would add a comparator before the level shifter shown on Figure 7-1 in app note SNVA856B

    2. Leave this pin floating for a fixed internal soft-start ramp, an external capacitor can be connected from this pin to neg output to extend the soft start time

    3. Put RT resistor between pin and neg out put (see Figure 8.2 on in app note SNVA856B for example)

    4. Connect SYNC/MODE to neg output for auto mode

    5. You can use BIAS in this configuration as long as the negative voltage is greater than -18V
