LMG342X-BB-EVM: 400V - 150V Current Controlled Buck Controller selection

Part Number: LMG342X-BB-EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LMG3422EVM-043, , TIDM-DC-DC-BUCK

Hi,

I am wondering if there is an application support engineer I can discuss a design with.

We are designing a 400V to 150V hard switched buck converter with 8A output current limit. We are looking to use LMG342X-BB-EVM and LMG3422EVM-043 to prototype the design.

  1. Do you have any suggestions for a single phase or multi-phase current mode controller that would work for this application?
  2. Do you have any suggestions for isolation amplifiers for current sensing feedback?
  3. Are there any evaluation boards similar to this specification with a controller, or are there only open loop eval boards?
  4. Are there any other component or design suggestions you have for this topology?

Thank you

  • Hi Meletios,

For buck topology we would usually use a DSP to control our GaN. I've included our Buck switching regulators team to help with buck controllers for this application though.

    Best,

  • Hi Meletios,

You should be able to reference our TIDM-DC-DC-BUCK reference design which showcases buck converter control using C2000 device. This specific design is a combination of LaunchPad with BoosterPack for demonstration and includes both open loop and control loop based software. Each open loop and closed loop is divided into two control algorithms based on VMC and PCMC
