LM5060: E-Fuse or High-Side Switch Recommendation

Part Number: LM5060
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS4811-Q1

Hey Power Switches team,

I have a customer in need of an e-Fuse or high-side switch that can support 60V (70V Max preferred) and 15A (up to 25A preferred) for a new project.

I found that the LM5060 high-side controller might be a suitable option. Are there any other devices that you recommend we consider?

Best regards,

Matt Calvo

  • Hi Matt ,

    Thanks for reaching out!

Please look at TPS4811-Q1. It comes with higher gate drive strength to support high current designs. TPS4811-Q1 provides OCP and short-circuit protections which are very sluggish in case of LM5060

  • Thanks for the recommendation Rakesh!

Just to confirm, can the TPS4811-Q1 support driving a load at 15A or 25A? I see in the datasheet that it has 3.7A peak source and 4A peak sink Gate drive capability but I'm not exactly sure how that relates to it's load driving strength capability so any clarity you can provide on this would be greatly appreciated.

  • Hi Matt ,

The strong GATE drive strength of TPS4811-Q1 helps to drive multiple parallel FETs in high current designs. We have customers using it for >300A designs as well.

  • Great to know Rakesh, thanks for the explanation!

I'll go ahead and pass this info along to my customer and will report back with any follow-up questions they may have.
