LM337-N-MIL: LM337H/NOPB; metal lid body inductive or conductive?

Is the metal body of the voltage regulator LM337H/NOPB may cause the short circuit if it touches with other components/metal components? Because, from our understanding, the body of the component should be inductive, and not conductive. Can you please check?

  • Hi Amira,

I ljust want to clarify that this is an old device and the Mount Bond diagram is not as clear as newer devices. Having said that, there is some connection to the body of the can, although not 100% sure if this is isolated from the external metal body.

In addition, the can is made out of metal, and even is this is not connected to GND or any other node, if any conductive material/component touches the body, then a potential difference can be created between them. So there is still a risk if the body touches other components. Please make sure that proper clearance is made between the regulator and any other component.

    Best,
