BQ25606: BQ25606 add 0V charge

Part Number: BQ25606
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ25616

Hi

The customer uses BQ25606, the lithium battery built in a battery protection board. When the battery is lower than 2.5V, the MOS on the battery protection board is turned off, causing the battery protection board output 0V.

BQ25606 detects that the battery is 0 V, and turns off Q4. They want to know how to add the 0V charge circuit?

Waiting for your reply.

Thanks

Star

  • Hi Star,

Please refer to Page 23 of the BQ25616 datasheet, the charger provides 100mA to the pack when the battery voltage is lower than 2.2V. Do you mean how to wakeup the pack? What are the wakeup conditions? Can you provide the waveform of the SW, SYS and BAT?

    Regards,

    Eric

  • Hi Eric

    Thanks for your reply.

My query is when the battery is in shutdown mode.  BQ25606 detects that the battery is 0 V, this chip does not have the zero voltage charge function.

So I want to know how to add the 0V charge circuit.

    Thanks

    Star

  • Hi Star,

I am not sure the meaning what you referred 0V charger circuit. As we discussed earlier, the charger still provides 100mA to the battery, but the BAT voltage could quickly ramp up to full charge voltage due to the battery pack is in over-discharged protection mode. The question earlier about the pack wakeup condition is critical. The charger does not have the feature adjust the voltage/current to wakeup the pack.

    Regards,

    Eric
