Hi Experts,
Our customer is asking if there is an overview available where he can see the max power dissipation of all TI packages?
Or an application note or Excel file to calculate the power dissipation?
Thank you and best regards,
Gerald

Hi Gerald,
There isn't a tool like this, but the relationship is straightforward. The max power dissipation is PD(max) = (TJ(max) - TA)/RθJA, so as you can see the power dissipation has an inverse relationship with RθJA. So, if the customer filters the parametric search by the RθJA in descending order, the max power dissipation is in ascending order. Also note that the max power dissipation can be nearly doubled by using good layout practices for thermal performance, so they can approximate the thermal performance they can expect in their actual application. See An empirical analysis of the impact of board layout on LDO thermal performance.
