BQ76920: I2C address

Part Number: BQ76920
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ78350

Hi TI team,

I read in datasheet that I2C address of BQ76920 permanently stored in EEPROM and cannot be further modified.

I need TI team verify again that if we have alternative way to change this address?

If not, please advise how to connect multiple BQ76920 to the same I2C bus.

Thank team.

  • Hello Hieu,

It is correct, the I2C device address is 7-bits and is factory programmed. It cannot be changed. Separate I2C busses or a bus multiplexer will be needed between the different ICs and the MCU.

See table 5 in datasheet for device comparison. The BQ7692006PWR version has 0x18 as the default I2C device address. Maybe this one can be used along with the 0x08.

There's good information in this thread in case you are using the companion gauge (BQ78350)

    Regards,
