UCC27289: Replacing bootstrap capacitor with isolated voltage regulator

Part Number: UCC27289
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UCC25800

Hello,

I am trying to replace the bootstrap capacitors for this non-isolated gate driver for our unique scheme. Do you have recommendations for us on how to replace the bootstrap caps with isolated voltage regulators across the HB/HS pins while using the same non-isolated gate driver?

Thank you for your time,

Yun Liu

  • Hello Yun,

The bootstrap diode bias for the high side driver can be replaced with a dedicated high side floating bias. This can allow for the high side to work in high duty cycle conditions. There are TI devices for these isolated floating bias supplies. They are the UCC25800 and SN650x transformer drivers.

    Regards,
