BQ28Z610EVM-532: Application Inquiry

Part Number: BQ28Z610EVM-532
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: EV2400, BQSTUDIO

Hello Team,

Posting on behalf of my customer:

I just bought an eval board for your gas gauging module and did not realize that I also needed the EV2400. Is it possible to flash something on a MSP430 to work with the battery studio? I have an old MSP430 that I could use if possible but it is not SMBUS but microUSB. Do you have any other active battery fuel gauging options that have usable eval boards? or other options I can use to evaluate the BQ28Z610EVM-532 even without EV2400?

 Regards,

Renan

  • Hello Renan,

You should be able to communicate with the EVM using a microcontroller. Your MSP430 should have I2C capability.
You can use I2C communication wires to communicate to a SMBus EVM as long as you follow MSBus communication protocol.

However, if you need to use BQStudio, you have to use the EV2400.

    Sincerely,
    Nick Richards
