Hi team,

can you tell what is the purpose and how to select schottky diode on output, page 38 figure 11-1 in Datasheet?

2) In what scenario can we use bidirectional TVS2701 instead of SMC diodes for selected diodes below? (Vin_max working voltage is 25V)

is it ok to use TVS2701 if surge level is class2 1kV 42Ohm?

Hi D,

1. Output schottky is to clamp negative voltages within safe limit . You can refer EVM part no.

2. Yes TVS2701 is fine. Bidirectional you will need because surge can be negative also.

Hi Kunal,

if we have after the eFuse EMI filter and then buck/boost converter do we need the Schottky diode

In Ds is stated -> Optional Schottky Diode (D3) for output short circuit protection with inductive loads and cables. Do we treat the EMI filter inductor as inductive load?

EMI filter can be treated as inductive load. Using schottky is a recommendation not necessary for device function. If your application has chances of short at output side you can consider using it.

Hi Kunal,

in our case max Vin and Vout of efuse is 25V ( Imax 1.8A), is it ok to use a Schottky with 40V and 1A ( MBRA140T3G) ?

What is the theory on how to select Schottky regarding the voltage and current needed ?
