BQ2022A: Question on BQ2022A external configuration.

Hi, 

May I clarify on the following :

  1. There is a note that “Optional 12V Programming”. Is this a compulsory or optional circuit?
  2. In the similar circuit in datasheet, there is a 3.3V pull up at the SDQ line, so is this needed?
