LM74701-Q1: pass the SAE J1455 test and SAE J1113-11 test in 12/24V systems?

Hi Sirs,

My customer is interested in the TVS-less ideal diode device LM74701-Q1 and has a question about the compliance test result.

Could it pass the SAE J1455 test and SAE J1113-11 test in 12/24V systems?

SAE J1455 for trucks (1994-08) [Pulse C / Pulse D / Pulse 1b/ Pulse 2a/ Load dump 5a]

SAE J1113-11 for 12 V & 24V system [Pulse 1c / Pulse 2a/ Pulse 2b/ Pulse 3a/ Pulse 3b/Pulse 4]


If it can't, which device can pass these compliance tests?

    The ISO 7637-2 and ISO 16750-2  tests are similar to that of tests in SAE J1455 test and SAE J1113-11.

    Can you check with customer if ISO 7637-2 and ISO 16750-2  Automotive test results published in datasheet will suffice ?

    After checking with the customer about the automotive test results, they ask another question for LM74701-Q1, can it pass the load dump pulse-5A for 24V-system?

    Due to they saw the LM74701-Q1 d/s only provide the test result for load dump pulse-5B for 12V-system.

  • Hi Henry,

     The peak voltage of load dump pulse-5A can go as high as 200V. To withstand this pulse, you will have to use LM74800-Q1 configured in common-source topology as shown below.
