BQ25892: Do we have ways to improve charging current while loading?

Part Number: BQ25892

Hi team,

It is clear that  BQ25892 can support 5A(the customer set the charging current)total between both battery and VSYS. So the charging current would be less than 5A  while the VSYS are having load. The customer want to know whether we have ways to improve the charging current to 5A while having load? Can we distribute the current(limit the Vsys to increase the charging current)?

  • Hi Nan,

The customer want to know whether we have ways to improve the charging current to 5A while having load?

The device can support a maximum of 5A shared between SYS load and battery. There is no way to increase the maximum allowable current of the buck converter.

Can we distribute the current(limit the Vsys to increase the charging current)?

The device is designed to prioritize supporting the SYS load. For example, even if ICHG is set to 5A if SYS draws 4A there is 1A available for battery charging. Customer would need to design their system to have low SYS current draw to maximize the available charge current.

    Best Regards,
