BQ25886: power on issue when the battery over discharge and voltage down to 4.2V

Part Number: BQ25886

Hi Team,

When the Vbattery discharge to 4.2V, the chip seems into a specific mode in which the input couldn't charge the battery and  LED of STAT/ PG is ON . If we disconnect battery, Vsys=0 and Vbattery=0.

Do you have any suggestion for the troubleshooting? Thanks.

Best Regards,

Tess Chen

  • Hi Tess,

STAT ON means charge in progress and PG/ ON means good input source.

However with 4.2 V you are likely on the border of VBAT_SHORT. During trickle charging the charge current is typical 100 mA. What happens if you charge the battery a bit more?
