BQ24040: Difference Between BQ24040 and BQ24210

Hi Expertise,

My Application is to charge the Li ion battery from 6V Solar panel cell.

While searching for a controller I got a BQ24210 IC.

My question is Both the IC's (BQ24210 and BQ24040) are having same pin functionalities but Why only BQ24210 is supportable for Solar panel inputs(Both IC operating voltage is same i.e., 3.5V TO 18V).

    Hello

    The BQ24210 has a more flexible Input DPM feature that makes it compatible with solar panel input or high impedance power sources.  The BQ24040 this feature is limited to 5V input situation.

    The BQ24210 VDPM pin is used to configure this feature, see data sheet section 8.3.1.
