BQ27Z561-R2: Charing terminal voltage derating

Part Number: BQ27Z561-R2

Hi Team,

After the battery has been charged and discharged 400 times, the customer modifies the cut-off charging voltage of the charging IC, and adjusts the full charging voltage from 4.4V to 4.25V. Besides Charge Term Charging Voltage, which configurations of the fuel gauge should be modified? After changing the configuration, will there be problems such as SOC less than 100% or SOC jumping when fully charged?

Regards,
Hailiang

  • Hello Hailiang,

All charge termination/Taper conditions will need to be adjusted to match. Until a valid charge termination is reached after the changes are made, the SOC may be incorrect(show lower because FCC has yet to be computed lower). If the alarms are set to work on voltage instead of SOC, the  those thresholds will also need to be adjusted.
