BQ24610: Schematic Review - Protection & Charger IC

Good day,

I am designing a remote which will be powered by 3x18650 rechargeable lithium cells in series.

I have completed a schematic using the below mentioned devices:

BQ24610RGER - Charger IC

BQ7791502PWR - Protection IC

I will include an attachment of the schematic as well as a full list of components used to create the schematic. I have tried to follow the BQ24610 datasheet design (based on 3 cell battery - pg 27) as closely as possible and have also made use of a BQ24610_Schematic_Checklist found on the E2E forum where I felt I could not get enough information from the datasheet. These two document proved very useful for reference (datasheet & checklist).

Would it be possible for someone to review my schematic and comment if any accompanying components seem incorrectly sized, out of place or will prohibit the safe and effective working of the charger and protection ICs (we have not been able to match our components exactly to those used in the datasheet/checklist due to the choices we have with our pcb manufacturer).

Hello Wesley,

I don't see any obvious issues with your schematic or the components that you have chosen.

I do have a follow up question: Where do you see that R24 and R27 are recommend to be 10K? I searched the datasheet and I'm not seeing it.

Thank you for your feedback.

I have used R24 and R27 as reference for those specific resistors to match the schematic on the BQ24610_BQ24650_Schematic_Checklist. However, the same resistors on the BQ24610 datasheet are refered to as R18 & R19. The schematic on page 27 of the datasheet shows R18 & R19 as 1k however the checklist on page 31 of the datasheet has R18 & R19 grouped under some 10k resistors.

Hi Christian,

Thank you for confirming this detail and again for your initial response. We will proceed with this schematic design for our prototype and use the datasheet layout guidelines to optimise pcb layout. Hopoefully there won't be any changes needed.
