LMR14050-Q1: How to calculate the efficiency of this device at the light load mode

Hi team

Cviauto use LMR14050 in IVI system for Bus (24V DC power), the power supply is battery, so the power efficiency at light load and standby mode must be paid attention to.

Could you please share some calculation methods or data at light load?

Hi Joe,

It's quite complicated as the device starts switching at a lower frequency in order to save energy. We may be able to find out in TI webbench, as they create an accurate model and use an algorithm to calculate the efficiency. We also give several light load examples in the DS.

What are your customer's operating conditions?

Hi Andrew

Operation condition is when IVI is in standby mode, the buck convertor should supply the SoC standby power and interaction module standby power. The power source is 24V battery in the bus.

According to the Datasheet, it should be like ~40% efficient in for light loads (10uA).
