TPS7A03: Does a very light load affect anything?

Part Number: TPS7A03
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS7A20

Hey team!

Quick question: would a light load (say 50uA-ish) affect anything around noise and quiescent current?

In my mind it might improve IQ as ground current decreases. Also wanted to make sure there wasn't anything to be worried about for stability and such.

Thanks!

  • Hey Cameron,

This device is spec'd from 0mA, so I don't expect the light load to have an effect on stability and performance. I will verify with design in case they have any feedback they would like to add.

    Best,

    Juliette

  • Hey Cameron,

After speaking with design, there is no issue with the 50uA load and the TPS7A03.

As for the ground current, the datasheet has some plots that go down to the 50uA range:

If they want a lower noise part, we would recommend the TPS7A20.
