TPS7A57: double confirm: set CP_EN low disable internal charger pump

Part Number: TPS7A57

Hi, Dear Product line engineer

one thing need double confirm associated with TPS7A57. as below figure shows, the internal charge-pump was disabled and internal circuit was powered by bias, right? under this conditions, could circuit run well with no charger-pump noise, right? thanks.

regards,

Bill

  • Hi Bill,

Connect CP_EN to GND to disable the internal charge pump.

What is the load current in this application? The device was characterized with at least Vbias > Vout + 3.2V.  In this design Vbias is just 2V above Vout.  We'll have to take a look if there are any performance issues with just 2V differential between Vbias and Vout, and your application load current.

    Thanks,

    Stephen

  • Hi, Stephen

thank you so much for supporting and comments. here is detailed information.

    application 1: input voltage is:2V, Vibas=3.3V, vout=1.85V. maximum current is: ~5A.

    application 2: input voltage is 1.5V, Vbias=3.3V, vout=1.25V, maximum current is ~4.5A(total current is 12A with 3PCs TPS7A57 paralleled).

    any comments? thanks.

    regards,

    Bill

  • Hi Bill,

The BIAS UVLO is typically 2.1V above Vout when the internal charge pump is disabled.  You'll need to connect the CP_EN pin high to use the TPS7A57 in these applications.

    Thanks,

    Stephen
