Hello Ben,

Analog ground and power ground are star-connected only at the thermal pad. Please refer to "PowerPad™" in the "Pin Functions" section on page 4 of the datasheet for bq24780s. This is true for both bq24800 and bq24780s.

Dear Alec

Thanks for your reminder about the PCB layout

We intended to trace the current loop if the thermal pad is internally tied to GND

Should we take the electrical into account, or merely consider it thermally?

It is recommended that you connect the IC ground to the thermal pad.
