UCC27710: Quick Question on Start-up

Part Number: UCC27710

Hey team,

Real quick question on the UCC27710 - there are no specific startup conditions that the customer has to satisfy, correct? It seems that the biggest concern / hold-up for start-up will be the UVLO triggering on VDD/VSS and HB/HS. That being said, this is all handled internally to the part so assuming VDD > Vdd,on and ~>50us has passed, HO/LO will be switching as expected in conjunction with HI/LI? (as per figure 30 in the datasheet)

Thanks,

Cam

  • Hello Cam,

The suggested sequence is to have VDD stabilized before starting the PWM inputs to the driver, 50us is adequate time for the VDD UVLO delay. Also for the HO to respond to the HI input, the HB to HS needs to be above the HB UVLO threshold. In some applications it is required that the LO output turns on which forces the HS pin to switch to close to ground potential to establish a path for VDD to charge the boot capacitor. So in some cases the LO must switch first to allow charging of the boot capacitor before the HO output will become active.

    Regards,
