high side switch suggestion

I need a high side switch to switch 24 Vdc power to a load. The load can draw up to 8.3 A of inrush current for about 5 ms, but normal operating current is about 500 mA.

I need the switch to initially power up in the off state (no short term on glitches). And I want to be able to control the output slew rate to eliminate or reduce those large inrush current spikes. And to control the switch I have 3.3 V logic.

I was going to use a P channel FET as the switch but I don't know how to initially power up the swtich without it turning on breifly as the gate charges up to the same valtage as the source, and adding a capacitor across the drain and source to control the turn on ramp rate will only make the initial power up on glitch worse.

I did a little bit of digging into TI's offerings and have found parts like smart high side switches and high side protection controllers. TI has a many parts to review so I am hoping somebody can take my requirements above and offer some part suggestions, or at least some ideas on how to narrow the search.

Thanks in advance for your help.
