TPS62992-Q1: TPS62901-Q1 soft-start

Part Number: TPS62992-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS560200-Q1, , TPS62901-Q1

Hello, colleagues,

The TPS62901-Q1 specifies a maximum Start-up delay time of 1400 µs or 1850 µs depending on the configuration. But further on the Soft-start time is declared one with a typical duration of 150 µs. There is no range an no maximum of time declared. The same for the TPS62992-Q1. The supply will be monitored by a short to ground detection that expects reaching the final voltage after enabling within 2.7 ms. At the current design I selected the TPS560200-Q1, which only states an internal soft-start with a typical time of 2 ms. There was also no maximum value declared and unfortunately we had some devices, that took much longer (3.5 ms) for the soft-start.

So what about the typical Soft-start time of 150 µs of the newer devices? What is the maximum time that has to be expected? A capacity load of 21 µF has to be charged. May there be devices, that take 300 µs (twice the time) or even longer?

Can I leave the SS/TR pin open, or is it better and more robust to place at least the mentioned minimal capacity of 680 pF?

Thank you,

Daria
