Short Pin8 to FB may cause IC damage since pin7 is low voltage pin, and leave pin8 floating that seems VIN almost can't short to pin8. why would you care about VIN short to SW?
Due to production line might happened short when solder is not well controll or component shift. In IC spec, footprint still keep this pin. Could TI remove it in IC spec??
