LMZ10503: Maximum voltage on enable pin, above Vin pin

Part Number: LMZ10503

If the Vin voltage is 3.3V, can 5V be applied to the enable pin? In the datasheet, it specifies an absolute maximum voltage on each of these pins as 6V, but does not clarify whether the IC can handle up to that 6V on the enable pin if the VIN pin is a lower voltage like 3.3V.

Thank you!

  • Hi,

    I checked the d/s and here's what I understand.

6V is the AMR ratings of EN pin and Vin pin. I suggest to provide only 5.5V on the EN pin to ensure that the AMR will not be exceeded in any worst case situation.

It looks like, V_EN can be greater than Vin.

Could you please share a schematic & timing diagram if any?

LMZ10503 is a very old part. I am curious to know if there was any specific reason to choose this part. If not, I can recommend some of our newer converters.
