REF5050: Connection with VREFIO pin of DAC80502

Part Number: REF5050
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DAC80502, REF50

Dear TI team

We are evaluating by connecting the REF5050's "VOUT" pin to the DAC80502's "VREFIO" pin.

The "VREFIO" pin of the DAC80502 is by default set to "internal".

Therefore, I think that the output current of the REF5050 will increase until it is switched to "external", which may generate a large amount of heat.

We believe that the problem in the above case boils down to device damage due to heat.

Is this perception correct?

Best Regards,

Taroimo

  • Hi Taroimo,

If the output current on the REF50 is going beyond datasheet maximum rating of 30mA or the temperature is exceeding 150°C then device damage and potential failure will occur. It is recommended to keep the output current at 10mA or below and the device temperature at or below 125°C.

    Thanks,
    Joshua
