TPS54308: TPS54308 simulation

Hi,

I am trying to simulate an already working circuit using tps54308.

At first i was able to simulate, but the results were not reasonable... very strange behavior of the IC output... (0-320mV)

Now when i try to simulate .. it crushes the software (Capture CIS).

am I missing something?

Note : the circuit preforms good in real PCB so i cannot understand the strange behavior of the simulation.

Hi Evgeni,

Your problem is that failed to proceed simulation, right?

I found that you didn't add library file to your project.

Strongly suggest you to modify the circuit based on TI example project.

Besides, why you use 150uH such large inductor? It's not recommended. Please follow datasheet recommended LC table.

Hi,

you are right, but now .. i did add the library and it still crushes my simulation (other IC are working fine).

about the inductor - i used the equation from the datasheet to calculate the main inductor. i got 127uH so i used 150uH

Hi Evgeni,

You also need to add library file to simulation setting.

The easy way is to edit based on example project.

Please use Iout_max (3A) to calculate L, not your actual Iout.

I added the library to both places - still crushing.

I understand that the max Iout of the IC is 3A. this is is not the case in our application and the Io max is just 0.3A. why should i use the 3A parameter

Did you add here?

Please also click 'Auto-converge'.

The right way to calculate L is using device max Iout. E.g. if you use actual Iout to calculate L, and your actual Iout is only several mA, you will get extremely large inductance which is unrealistic.

Please follow datasheet recommended LC table.
