LM43603: LM43603xxx as SMPS (Rise Time 't' for Soft Start?)

Part Number: LM43603
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM61440-Q1

Just received word that there can be some inrush issues if there isn't some matter of "slow start" for the LM43603 converter. It takes some time 't' to rise for a soft/slow start, but there is no information on the datasheet about this time itself. Is there a way to go about getting that rise time 't' for this device, or do you have this information? Thank you!

  • Hi Sneha,

Thank you for posting.  Do we read the same datasheet?  I found the following info in the datasheet, and also an error in the datasheet equation in which the VFB is missing from the denominator.

We should correct equation (2) in the next datasheet revision.

    Hope this clarifies.

    Thanks,

    Youhao

  • Hi Youhao,

Thank you! I realized I put the wrong part number in here unfortunately - LM614xx-Q1 was the part that didn't have the time 't', would you have any insight on this? I appreciate it and I apologize for the confusion.

  • Hi Sneha,

Sorry for the delay.  Somehow your last post was not on my radar yesterday.  I just saw it now.

I just checked the LM61440-Q1 datasheet, it gives the soft start time in the EC table:

    Hope this clarifies.

    Thanks,

    Youhao
