REF5040: Use Trim pin to adjust 4.096V down to 4.00V on REF5040

Part Number: REF5040
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TLC3578

Looking at section 9.3.6 of the datasheet for the REF5040 to see how to adjust the voltage down to 4.00V.

Is there a formula that I can use to trim the voltage down to 4.00V?  This is for the 4V reference for the TLC3578.

  • Hello,

There is no formula for adjusting the voltage down to 4.00 V. The TRIM pin is meant to be used for manually tuning the voltage using a potentiometer. You could consider using a lower reference voltage with a low drift offset amplifier to obtain a 4.00 V reference voltage.

    Thanks,

    Jackson

  • Hi Charles

    Some additional comments :

    • It is not recommended to trim the output more than ±15mV. It will degrade the performance.

    • You can refer section 9.2 for calculating the required trim

Let me know if you need further assitance. We can provide aproximate vakue for your target and you have to fine tune the resitor value to componsate process variation.
