TPS51200-Q1: Support for DDR4 memory

Part Number: TPS51200-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS51200

Hi, we are using DDR VTT termination regulator part# TPS51200QDRCRQ1 with DDR4 RAM part# MT40A256M16LY-062E AUT:F . Datasheet of TPS51200-Q1 mention support for "low power DDR3 & DDR4". Let me know if this regulator works for the said DDR4 part?

Thanks,

Vivek

  • Hi Vivek,

The TPS51200 is suitable for DDR4 applications and the datasheet shows how to configure the device for DDR4 (See Figure 30 in the datasheet). I am not familiar with the specific RAM device you mention, but I did a quick online search and find an example schematic using both of these devices together in a system.

    Best regards,

    Matt

  • Hi Matt, thanks for your reply. I checked Figure 30 in datasheet, it is for DDR3 tracking configuration, not DDR4. Did you mean to Refer Figure 29 for LPDDR3 or DDR4 in datasheet?

Also, iam feeding 2.5V for VIN pin instead of 3.3V supply recommended in application circuit  (Figure 29 in datasheet). Please review the circuit diagram below and confirm whether this is suitable for DDR4 applications.

    Regards,

    Vivek

  • Hi Vivek,

The minimum recommended VIN is 2.375V so your 2.5V source is acceptable. This should still work for DDR4.

  • Hi Vivek,

Just wanted to mention that you will need a 100kOhm pull up resistor to VIN for the PGOOD signal since this output is open drain.

    James
