TPS7A57: Problem with Pspice model

Part Number: TPS7A57

I tried downloading the Pspice model for this device (sbvm989.zip), and on opening the design in TI-Pspice I get a
"Warning(ORCAP-2460):Problems detected with TI model libraries configured in this design." error message.
The session log just says "WARNING(ORCAP-2457): Integrity Check failed ......".
The tps7a5701_trans.liberrorLog file just says "Can't find signature File".

Can I please get a complete file to down load.

Thank you,   Roy

  • Hi Roy,

Thank you for reaching out and sharing this with us.

Are you able to open the .opj file from the sbvm989.zip? Also, can you verify that the .lib fle is part of your configuration files?

I have just downloaded the .zip from the product folder and ran a simulation without an issue. Is it possible to capture the process of opening and/or using PSpice for TI?

  • Hi Edgar,

Thank you for your reply. Yes we did open using the tps7a57_trans.obj file and it didn't work. We have tried it on 2 different systems with the same problem.

  • This is the first time that we've had a problem downloading a sample simulation from the product page.
We also tried including tps7a57 into a new schematic. Again it didn't work - I got ERROR(ORCAP-2397) tps7a57_trans is not accessible.
I checked the the library folder "C:\cds_spb_home\cdssetup\pspTILibDir" and I see

    tps7a5701_trans.olb, tps7a5701_trans.lib, tps7a5701_trans.libsig

the same files that I see in the downloaded zip file.
Please let us know what is wrong.

    Thank you,  Roy

  • Sorry I see tps7a57_trans.olb, tps7a5701_trans.lib, tps7a5701_trans.libsig
I tried renaming the .olb file to see if that fixed the problem - it didn't

  • Hi Roy,

Is it possible to do a step by step PPT?

The warning shouldn't be an issue.

You should be able to just download the .zip file, extract that to your folder of preference.

    Open the Final_Release_TPS7A5701_TRANS folder.

Double click on the tps7a57_trans.opj file

Once PSpice for TI opens, it will ask to update/refresh the libraries.

Once this is done, a warning can show:

    Click ok

Once the tps7a57_trans.opj is opened, you should see the following structure:

Open PAGE1, and the following should open:

Once this is done, you can click run, or modify some of the components  :

    I have changed Vout to 5V, Vin=6V; Vbias=8V, Iout=5A:

I have also asked other Co-workers to download the PSpice model from TPS7A57 data sheet, product information and support | TI.com and have been able to run this successfully from their end.

At the moment, please use the SBVM989.ZIP that is available online, and not the model that comes within PSpice for TI.

  • Hi Edgar,

Thank you for the detailed instructions. On opening the .opj file I didn't get a request to update the libraries (Maybe because I did it before?)

I carried on anyway, and I agree it appears to work ie:- I could change the output voltage from 0.5 to 1.0V. But when I change the load resistor for a dynamic load. It sort of  works except there are no glitches on the output as you would expect. Is this now a limitation of the model? If so what other limitations should I expect? Do I now have to redraw the rest of my circuit in this model sheet?

  • Hi Roy,

Our models are mainly behavioral. Therefore, they have some limitations and some of the transient performance is not modeled or are not 1:1 to silicon.

For your entire circuit schematics, as long as the .lib and .olb files are included in your project and design you should be able to use them. When ever you setup your simulation profile, look in the Simulation Setting> Configuration Files:

Make sure that in Libary the .lib file is included.

It also helps to have this in the same folder where your project is located.

  • Thank you, this helps a lot.
