LMR50410: Inductor selection

Part Number: LMR50410

I'm a little bit confused about choosing a suitable inductor for my fixed output 3.3V version of the buck converter.

the data sheet recommends a 10uH Inductor _I chose that one "MPL-SE2512-100"; ad here is a link for its specs: https://eu.mouser.com/ProductDetail/Monolithic-Power-Systems-MPS/MPL-SE2512-100?qs=sPbYRqrBIVm%2FjtMxkAug8A%3D%3D _

would this inductor suitable for my circuit if it's operating on two modes (0.1A in normal mode) and (1A if a motor used for only few seconds)

won't I face any troubles or instability?

  • Hi,

You can refer to Datasheet Page 16 Table 9-1 for the selection of the external inductor and capacitor to make the circuit stable. For you application, with 700kHz fixed frequency and 3.3V output voltage, 10uH inductor and 22uF/10V capacitor is recommended for typical 12Vin.
