BQ27530-G1: Query on BSCl and BSDA signal connections

Hi,

In BQ27530, BSCL and BSDA are Push Pull output whereas in BQ2416x SCL and SDA lines are open drain. So, if we connect these lines directly, at the time of clock stretching SCL might be driven low by BQ2416x and BSCL of BQ27530 if driven high there could be a possibility of short between power and ground. Please provide your thoughts on this

There's always a possibility of a short, the push-pull is not directly to BAT+, it is pulled to internal power rail.

Hi Wyatt Keller,

Hope it will not damage the ICs when BQ2416x drives low and BQ27530 drives high on the SCL line at the same time

Hello Mythili,

The gauge has weak pull-up on the BSCL/BSDA lines, it should not cause damage unless external event pushes one of the criteria out of the absolute maximum range for the pins.
