Hi Team,

I am using MZ12001EXTTZ/NOPB in my application. How can I evaluate if it requires heatsink or not?

maximum power dissipation in my application is 0.257W.

Hi, the power loss looks small, what's your ambient temperature and do you have max Junction temperature spec?

Hi,

My typical ambient temperature is 25deg C Maximum is 71 degC.

If Tj spec is 71 and Ta is 25C, heatsink should be not use for 0.257W loss, you just need to follow layout recommendation to place big copper for thermal pad, VIN/VOUT/GND plane for thermal dissipation improvment.
