BQ25898: About Input current limit setting

Part Number: BQ25898

Hi.

Let's talk about the input current limit setting.
I have two questions.

1.
IINLIM values of "page 28" and "page 34" in the datasheet are different.
Which is the correct value?
Page28:3.25A / Page34:3.15A

2.
Customer has tested IINLIM.
The difference between the measured value and the set value was about 100mA.
Could you tell me the offset guideline for REG00 register?

REG00 IINLIM Measurement result
0x00 0 mA 93.7 mA
0x01 50 mA 143 mA
0x02 100 mA 190 mA
0x03 150 mA 239 mA
0x04 200 mA 287 mA
0x05 250 mA 331 mA
0x06 300 mA 378 mA
0x07 350 mA 426 mA
0x0A 500 mA 561 mA

Best regards,
Yusuke

  • Hi Yusuke,

Please see my comments regarding your questions below.

    1) The description on page 28 is correct. Register setting of 111111b will set input current limit to 3.25A. The current value associate with each bit in table 9 is also correct. The key information missing from the description of IINLIM register is that there is a 100mA offset (i.e. when register setting is all zeros IINLIM = 100mA). I have made note of this and we will look to add the 100mA offset to the description on page 34 in the next revision of the datasheet.

    2) The 100mA offset in the IINLIM setting explains the difference the customer sees in their testing. Taking the 100mA offset into account the measurement results from the customer look reasonable.

    Best Regards,

    Garrett
