REF35: REF35 can be used as a reference voltage for multiple op-amps.

Part Number: REF35
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: INA253, INA851,

Hi TI,

My design uses 16 channels of Current sensing which uses INA253 current sense amp and INA851 Instrumentation amplifier which requires VREF 2.5V for both the ICs.

A single REF35 can be used to provide reference voltage for multiple OP-AMPs ?

Can you suggest any alternative if available ?

Thanks & Regards,

Venkat.

  • Hi Venkat,

Can you provide a block diagram of your circuit so I can better address your question?

    Thanks,

    Jackson

  • Hi Jackson,

My one channel of current sensing consists of one INA253 and one INA851. For both I need to provide a reference voltage.

Like above explained, I have 16 channels of current sensing

    Regards,

    Venkat.

  • Hi Venkat,

The REF35 has an output current of +10mA to -5mA, as noted in the datasheet. It is possible to use a single REF35 to provide a reference voltage for multiple op-amps, but you would need to pay close attention to how much current the REF35 would need to source or sink and make sure it stays within the range I mentioned above, as noted in the datasheet. Once again, it depends on how much current the REF35 must source or sink.

Looking at the datasheet for the INA253 and the INA851, I am unsure how you are using the REF35 without more information, as both datasheets provide application information that could use a voltage reference in different ways. To give you a more assured answer, I would need to know more about how your circuit is configured.

One thing to consider is buffering the output of the REF35 if more current is needed, depending on how your circuit is configured. If you have any other information on your circuit that you are willing to share and have any other questions, please let me know.

    Thanks,

    Jackson
