LM51581-Q1: output capacitor, minimized undershooot during cranking, line transient

Part Number: LM51581-Q1

Hi team,

Q1. Lookign at the table 10-2,alminium electric cap(100uF, ESR25mOhm) x 2pcs are used. Instead of alminium electric cap, can MLCC more than 50uF be used?

Q2. Could you tell the details about "minimized undershooot during cranking"?

Q3. Are there any data about the line transient?

  • Hello Noriyuki,

Thanks for reaching out to us via e2e.

Aluminium electrolytic caps can be replaced by ceramic caps of the same capacitance.
But please be aware of the DC bias effect of ceramic capacitors, so the nominal voltage rating must be much higher than the output voltage.

When all external components and especially the compensation network are selected carefully, the undershoot caused by the changing external conditions during cranking can be minimized.
Especially the fact that the Low side FET is internal to the device will help to minipize parasitic effects and to keep that undershoot small.

For transient performance, please see the users uide of the evaluation module:

    Best regards,
