TLVM13660: TLVM13660 Webench Power dissipation - increases with lower temperature?

Part Number: TLVM13660

HI,

I'm simulating the TLVM13660 integrated power module in Webench.   Vin=20V, Vout =5V,3A.   1Mhz frequency

The simulation indicates that the Total power dissipation *increases*  with lower temperature  (~700mW @55C vs  ~1.27W @ 0C)

Is this result expected?  If yes can you explain what causes this?

  • Hi Roy,

thanks for catching this issue. I've played around with the simulation and it seems that power efficiency is still high during high temperatures such as 80C. This behavior is peculiar as the FET and internal inductor losses would have taken over and driven the efficiency down at the higher temperatures. I have notified the Webench team.

With reference to your design I suggest calculating the power dissipation losses or running your design on a sample EVM and measuring.

    Regards,

    Henry
