TPS65131-Q1: Start up voltage

Part Number: TPS65131-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS65131

Hi, I am inquiring about the voltage step of the positive voltage that occurs at start up of the TPS65131.

Currently we have it set to 10V.

On voltage start up, +10V reaches 10V with a step as shown in the figure below and also in the datasheet it is 5V with a step.

The datasheet does not specifically explain the reason for this.

Why does the boost converter reach the target voltage in steps?

  • Hi Chul,

The voltage step is when the IC powered on and boost switch not operating, the output capacitor will first be supplied with Vin through inductor and diode so that the output voltage will reach to ~Vin. When boost starts to switch, the Vout will then be ramped up to programmed value. This is an expected behavior.
