Hi,
I'm planning to use TPS7A92 for my project,
this is my requirement,
Vin=5V
Vout = 3.8V
Iout = 1.6A
Ta= 70C
based on datasheet, i have done some calculations,
part has RθJA = 56.9 °C/W, if we calculate the Pd(max) of this part,
Pd(max) = Tj(max)-Ta)/ RθJA
= (125-70)/56.9
= 0.966W
As per our requirements, Power dissipation will be,
Pd = (Vout-Vin)*Iout
= (5-3.8)*1.6
= 1.92W
is my calculations are proper? With the calculation i have conculded that i cant use this part.
Do you have any suggested part?

Your calculations are correct.
Also, if you know your board temperature, using RθJB would help to get to a solution easily.
As per the conditions given, RθJA ≤ 28.645 °C/W. Do you have any additional requirements other than the ones mentioned in the post (like Noise, PSRR etc.)?

This is a link to the tool available in TI website which lists the available LDOs. You can use the filters (this includes RθJA) to get the part that can be used.
With this link, I have filtered the devices based on the conditions that you had mentioned.

Hi Hareesh,
This should have been mentioned more prominently in the datasheet.
But KTT is the package name for DDPAK/ TO-263, and NDE is the package name for TO-220.
This is listed on page 23 of the LM1085 datasheet.
If you need to know the physical dimensions of the package, they are listed on pages 28 and 29 of the datasheet.
