TPS62170-Q1: Current detection and temperature detection

Part Number: TPS62170-Q1

Hi team,

could you help on the following questions:

  • Time required for current/temperature detection,( this is the time from the temperature (current) anomaly to the shutdown of the output )
  • Whether the test is determined by multiple tests or is closed as soon as a peak reaches?
  • Recovery time,Recovery time, the time from when the chip detects that the temperature (current) returns to the normal range to the normal voltage output

thanks

  • Hi Hazel,

The current protection: TPS62170-Q1 would never shutdown due to over current, it would decrease its output voltage to limit the output current.

The current limitation is realized through cycle by cycle detection of the inductor current.

You can find more description in the datasheet.

The thermal protection: TPS62170-Q1 would shutdown immediately as soon as it detected its temperature exceeds the thermal shutdown temperature(typ. 160C).

No multiple tests since it has the hysteresis already. the Time requirement before shutdown is just the internal circuit delay with in several ns. We don't have exact data here.

The recovery time is mainly decided by the soft start time, which is typically { 50us+Vout / (25 mV/µs) }.
