TPS62870-Q1: DESIGN REVIEW

Part Number: TPS62870-Q1

Hi,

We are using TPS62870Y0QWRXSRQ1 regulator for remote sensing 1.1V, with current rating of 3.5A, soft start 1ms, switching frequency 2.25MHz. And also we are enabling TPS62870Y0QWRXSRQ1 with voltage of 3.23V through the power sequencer which has open drain configuration as mentioned in below attached diagram. In TPS62870Y0QWRXSRQ1 datasheet, it is mentioned to provide the series 15K resistor for current limiting do we need this in our implementation, and also review the design.

Thanks

  • Hi Sathya,

Yes it is good to place min 15kohm resistor on ENable pin.

I see there is 10 kohm on drawing but not able to see in schematic.

I will review schematic and get back to you by tomorrow.

    Thanks,

    Tanvee

  • Hi Sathya,

Schematic looks okay to me. Can you give more details on enable pin connection?

    Thanks,

    Tanvee

  • Hi Tanvee,

We are enabling the regulator through power sequencer ADM1166 which has open drain configuration. Please find the attached enable pin connection for TPS62870Y0QWRXSRQ1 from power sequencer.

We are providing 10K pull up with 3.3V and pull down of 510K, which provides 3.23V to enable the TPS62870Y0QWRXSRQ1. Like this, we are providing enable pin connections. can this 10K act as current limiting resistor. Is 15K series resistor required for enable in this condition.

    Thanks

  • Hi Sathya,

    Thanks for explanation.

Yes, I would still sugget to place 15kOhm resistor in series as suggested in drawing.

    Thanks,

    Tanvee
