TPS74401: Bias Pin voltage issue/Alternate part with same package and pin

Part Number: TPS74401

Dear Sir/Madam,

I am using TI’s LDO “TPS74401RGWRG4” for Vin=3.6V, Vout=3.3V, Iout=0.82A. Below is the schematic design

Unfortunately, we have connected BIAS voltage to 3.3V instead of 4.92V which satisfies Vbias requirement (Vbias=Vout+1.62V) from the datasheet, where we don't have any 5V generated on board.

Hence we do not get any required regulated Output.(getting 2.3V instead of 3.3V)

Do you have any solution/alternate part which works with BIAS voltage of 3.3V, or any other part which does not require bias voltage with the same package and pin compatible as of "TPS74401RGWRG4".

Thanks,

Muthu Kumar R

  • Hi Muthu,

There are no P2P alternatives which will meet the requirements you need. However, TPS7A8300ARGWR will meet the spec requirements and also happens to be on the same package.

TPS7A8300ARGWR should allow you to get the 3.3V out with the 3.6Vin and the 3.3VBias available in the system. The pinout and the method to get the output voltage will be different.

Here is an example of 3.3V out design with TPS7A8300ARGWR:
