TPS65220: TPS6522053RHBR vs PTPS6522053RHBR

Part Number: TPS65220

Hello,

On differents versions of datasheet, there was 2 orderable part number :

  • TPS6522053RHBR
  • PTPS6522053RHBR

PTPS seems to be the pre-production version.

Is there a way to distinguish the 2 versions ?

By there top casing mark?

By reading registers like ?:

  • TI_DEV_ID 0x00
  • NVM_ID 0x01
  • FACTORY_CONFIG_2 0x41

Is there any behaviour differences between the 2 versions?

Thanks for your help.

  • Hi,

Thanks for reaching out! PTPS6522053RHBR is the pre-production part number which can be identified by the top marking.

Minor NVM updates (not affecting the output voltages) were made before the device was released to production. The NVM configuration of your pre-production samples will depend on when the samples were generated. The configuration can be identified by reading the following register fields: TI_NVM_ID and NVM_REVISION. The NVM configuration used in production is described in the Technical Reference Manual (TRM). https://www.ti.com/lit/pdf/slvucj3

Please let us know if your samples have a different NVM revision and we can provide the details on the differences compared to the production material.

    Thanks,

    Brenda

  • Hello Brenda,

So here are PMIC register content:

    TI_DEV_ID 0x00                           0x80

    NVM_ID 0x01                              0x53

So can you confirm that is not Preproduction device ? and it's well production device?

    Thanks,

    B.R,

    Thierry

  • Hi,

The TI_DEV_ID and NVM_ID are both correct. Could you also read the NVM_REVISION on register 0x41? This will help us verify the default NVM settings.

    Thanks,

    Brenda

  • Hello,

Please find register 0x41 content :

    FACTORY_CONFIG_2 0x41                    0x40

  • Hi,

FACTORY_CONFIG_2 (address 0x41) = 0x40 is correct and represents the latest NVM settings used in production. Bits 7-5 in this register correspond to the NVM revision.

0x2 (or V2) is the NVM revision used in production for TPS6522053. All register settings should match the ones described in the technical reference manual (https://www.ti.com/lit/pdf/slvucj3). Let us know if there are any questions.

    Thanks,

    Brenda
