BQ25713B: BQ25713B

Part Number: BQ25713B
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS25750, , BQ25713

Dear Suppot Team,

we are currently debugging a board with the combination of TPS25750 and the BQ25713B. In my understanding the TPS25750 supporting only the BQ25713 (without the final B) but the BQ25713B and the BQ25713 (without B) are equal except for the I2C address.

Considering that TPS25750 is a programmable device, is that possible to specify the device address of the BQ25713B (0x6A) to TPS25750?

Thanks a lot,

Matteo

  • Hi Matteo,

I am not familiar with the BQ25713 vs BQ25713B devices. I will re-assign this to the BQ team so they can let us know what differences there are between the BQ25713 and BQ25713B in terms of registers and register configurations.

If the only difference between the two BQ devices is the I2C address, this is configurable through writing to the 0x64 I2C Master Configuration register. However, since this register is not available through the GUI, you will need to use an EC or MCU to write directly to register 0x64. If the difference between the two BQ devices is more than just the I2C address, then unfortunately the BQ25713B would not be supported.

BQ team, please let us know what differences there are between the BQ25713 and BQ25713B in terms of registers and register configurations? Is it just the I2C address that is different?

    Best,

    Alex

  • Hi Alex,

thank you so much for your fast reply. In our board the TPS25750 is directly connected to the BQ25713B and there is no possibility to talk directly with the BQ from a microcontroller. At least the microcontroller could talk with the TPS25750.

Is there any chance to specify to the TPS25750 the I2C address of the BQ? At compile time (using the Ti web interface) or runtime with the microcontroller?

edit: or is there any chance to issue a I2C command to BQ through the TPS25750?

    Regards,
    Matteo

  • Hello Alex,

This is from BQ team. BQ25713 and BQ25713B are basically same devices with just the I2C address being different.

    Best Regards,
