TPSM8D6C24: Confirming whether it can be used with core power supply for Agilex FPGA

Guru 19635 points
Part Number: TPSM8D6C24

Can the TPSM8D6C24 be used as the core power supply for Agilex FPGAs?

I guess that the PMBus master function of Agilex cannot be controlled unless address 21h (VOUT_COMMAND) and address 8Bh (READ_VOUT) completely match at 1LSB voltage level.

Could you please check if TPSM8D6C24 can match the above address?

21h (VOUT_COMMAND): Datasheet page 64

・8Bh (READ_VOUT): Datasheet page 115

Also, if there are any other precautions to be taken when using the Agilex Core power supply, please let me know.

Best regards,

Satoshi

  • Hi Satoshi,

We check Intel's checklist for Agilex power requirements. The Intel document no: AN974-757318-757319. Table 5 on page10 lists VOUT_COMMAND, VOUT_MODE and READ_VOUT. The TPSM8D6C24 meets all of the requirements. The TPSM8D6C24 supports VOUT_MODE, allowing the FPGA to read the VOUT_COMMAND and READ_VOUT data format which are always the same. The default is linear16 with an exponent of -9 (512LSB/V) or 1.96mV/LSB.

    Hope this helps,

    Thanks,

    Nancy
