UCC28050: Alternative

Hi all,

Since UCC28050 is in the proces of being discountinued we are in need of another IC that is going to perform the same functionality.

Is there a pin-to-pin compatible alternative to the UCC28050 which is readily stocked and produced?

If not, what IC is the most similar and would therefore require minimal redesign of external circuit?

HI Samo,

The most recent IC in this family is the UCC28056C. Unfortunately, it is not pin-to-pin but it is a simple IC to use.

If possible I would atleast like to have an IC which has a separate MULT input like the UCC28050 has. Is there one available?

What about UCC28051? It looks exactly the same, are there more differences beside the UVLO thresholds that I should be aware of?

Hi Samo,

It is close but with different UVLO thresholds and gain settings. So this can work. This one does have future plans to migrate to our new 300mm fabs but I don't have a timeline. The UCC28056 has already moved over to our new fab.

Does this mean that the UCC28051 will too become obsolete like UCC28050 or will it just be produced differently?

The UCC28051 will be the same design produced in a new fab and on a new process. It is not planned to become obsolete.
