LP2985: Difference between new chip and legacy chip

Hi experts,

Looking at the LP2985 data sheet, there are two types of LP2985: New Chip and Legacy Chips (Standard and Advanced). What are the major differences between these types?

I'm currently thinking of using Legacy Chip because 1.5% Vout accuracy is sufficient. However, since it is a Legacy, I am worried about the risk of EOL. Could you please tell me about the danger of EOL of LP2985? Also, could you please let me know if there are any other products that you do not recommend for the LP2985?

    Hi Takemura-san,

    The new chip version of LP2985 should be used, as the fabrication site currently producing the legacy chip will be closed. The information about both legacy chip and new chip is given in the datasheet to help the customer understand differences between the legacy chip and new chip, as well as provide a reference for customers who have the legacy chip version of LP2985 in their design.

    Besides what is listed in the datasheet as differences between the legacy and new chip, I will email you an informational packet that describes the differences between the legacy and new device.
