TPS74401: Maximum allowable current estimation

Hello,

My customer wants to use TPS74401 with the conditions below.

 - VIN = 5V / VOUT = 1.5V / Room temperature

What is the maximum current available? How can they calculate it?

    Hey JH, 

    It is very dependent on the layout of the PCB. 

    You can calculate it by solving backwards from the PD and TJ equations.

    PD = (VIN-VOUT)(IOUT)

    TJ = TA + PD(Theta-JA)

    (TJ - TA)/((VIN-VOUT)(Theta-JA)) = IOUT

    Ensure that TJ does not exceed abs max.
